Easter in Armenia

Easter is a spring holiday. This year Easter is on the twentieth of April.
People go to the church on Easter day and bring home burning candles.
Candles symbolize Jesus Christ – the light of life.
After church people gather round the Easter table and celebrate the holiday.
Before Easter we grow wheat grass for Easter basket.
Then we put the painted eggs on the grass. We decorate the table with this basket of eggs.
We put nice candles, toy chickens on the table. At Easter Armenian people eat painted eggs, fish,
fried greens, pilaf with rice and raisin and drink red wine. You can put fried lavash and dried fruit in pilaf.
It is very tasty. The red wine symbolizes the blood of Jesus.
On Easter people paint (dye) eggs and boil them. They play “egg fight”.
